Prison Logic

In late 2017 I designed the title sequence for Prison Logic, a comedy indie film directed by Romany Malco Jr.

Romany had some great ideas for the title sequence - prisoners handcuffed on moving conveyor belts that would drop all of the prisoners down into a pile which would then be collected by an industrial magnet. This idea serve as an allegory for the prison-industrial complex. I took these ideas and expanded on them, adding my own touch to complement the ideas of the director.

I applied a paper cut-out style to the prisoners - which hints at their dehumanization and disposability. This also inspired a spotlight effect - so a certain prisoner would be escaping the light and the conveyor belt system. This also created an interesting dynamic between light and dark.
